Merry Christmas Xangonians

This Christmas I have been mostly playing the Sprout Attack game:

www.eyegas.com/xmas05

At the end of Christmas Day the selected top scores in the Davenport Hall of Fame read as follows:

  1. Luke - 1200
  2. Mark - 1150
  3. Phoebe - 1130
  4. Mum - 610
  5. Aunty Pamela - 120
  6. Grandma - 60

Victory is sweet.

Apparently; Pain is Weakness Leaving the Body

ben nevis

So with these wise words for comfort I aim to be part of an intrepid team aiming to climb this Uncle Nevis-shaped mountain, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon all in the space of 24 action packed hours. May 2007 is the plan, I reckon I need to chop 1 minute off my voluptuous mile time of 6 min 20 seconds before then to have a fighting chance. How hard can a 5 minute 20 second mile be eh?

Jonathan Lyndon: even with 43.7% lung capacity I believe in you bro.

Charlie Blake We Salute You

Charlie Blake says a pictorial hi from London to all you wonderful Brightonians. Don't be fooled by his groggy exterior he is full of beans and has not been mugged by the Peckham Pikeys in over 3 days.

Hello friends,

I am now in the bizarre position of technically having a job (with a company called Thales (pronounced 'Talis') in Crawley) but being unable to commence employment for 4-6 weeks while Scotland Yard/The CIA/Men In Black perform a security check to determine whether there is a likelyhood of me selling sensitive information to people or aliens with questionable intentions. God be praised, my triumphant final 6 am shift at the B&Q altar to home improvement is tomorrow morning and I hope i'm not awake at the foolish hour of 4:45am again for a very long time. What am I going to do for the next 4-6 weeks I hear you ask? Start an ant colony? Read the bible in its entirety? I don't know.  Maybe God will have some unexpected solution tomorrow. His grace is sufficient eh?

An offer you can't refuse......

It seems my faux-intellectual ramblings on probability may have alienated my otherwise eager blog audience. This brings me deep sadness and regret. Allow me to introduce my first competitive and interactive blog entry for the people, based on a 2 week road trip planned for next summer immediately after my brother's nuptials to his lovely American bride in sunny New Hampshire. I'm a little stuck for interesting and diverting places to visit, and it would be a shame to waste such an opportunity, so....

Q: What, in your opinion would be the coolest place of interest to visit in the USA or Canada?

Answers in the usual way. The best reply to the above question wins a Fantastic prize. A high-definition digital photo of each of the top ten locations suggested. Each photo will perfectly depict the nature of the location, but will also feature a man named Jonathan Lyndon gurning impressively in the foreground whilst eating a burger in honour of the noble heritage of our friends over the pond. Much like this photo, but of much higher quality and with the requested location instead of my old living room in the background portion of the frame. And with a burger included.

So get thinking and you could be the one to win this awesome souvenir!

P.S. The nature of the photographic portraits for each location is flexible. As long as the request is appropriate and does not involve Jonathan Lyndon in his tidy whities, every attempt will be made to accomodate the lucky winner.

P.P.S. Theres a hike happening this Saturday, catching the train from Brighton to Eastbourne at about 7am and then hiking the south downs way from Beachy Head back to Devils Dyke (about 25-28 miles). Should take about 8 or 9 hours. Email me luke_davenport@hotmail.com if anyone is up for it. Anyone at all.

P.P.P.S. Still looking for a job. Any job at all.
